Numerical Modelling of High-Speed Loading of Periodic Interpenetrating Heterogeneous Media with Adapted Mesostructure

A series of calculations has been conducted to study the high-speed interaction space debris (SD) particles with screens finite thickness. For first time, taking into account fracture effects, a numerical solution obtained for problem high-velocity between SD and volumetrically reinforced penetrating composite screen. The were performed using REACTOR 3D software package in three-dimensional setup. To calibrate material properties homogeneous made aluminum alloy A356, stainless steel 316L, multilayer screens, methodical load carried out. materials have verified based on experimental data through systematic comprising combination plates. Several options design heterogeneous A356 316L considered, including interpenetrating reinforcement inclusions gradient distribution throughout thickness an matrix. revealed that constructed as two-layer A356/316L, direct matrix provide protection devices from both single particle streams moving at speeds up 6 km/s. modeled spherical diameter 1.9 mm Al2017-T4 mass 10 mg.
